Korean Cooking class

In the year 2018 the statue of Jan Janszn. Weltevree is found for over 30 years next to 'de Grote Kerk' of the town De Rijp. The Jan Janszn. Weltevree Foundation celebrates this anniversary by organizing extra activities. After the Information meeting in the library last month, a Korean 'Hansik' Cooking Class was organized on the 14th of June in Restaurant 'Bij Ernst'. As you might have noticed, Korean cuisine currently is a popular culinary trend.

For this special occassion, Ernst collaborated with Inja Hage-Koelemeijer of Inza's Seoulkitchen.
Twelve front runners indulged themselves with the principles of the Korean Cuisine and immediately turned into real Korean foodies. "What a pleasure! This is outstanding!"

Everyone was welcomed with a glass of 'Soju', a tense traditional drink. We prepared Kimchi Jeon as a starter, a veggie pancake served with the sauce 'Cho Ganjang'. The very tasty 'Bulgogi Beef' (Korean BBQ) was our main course with side dishes such as Banchan, Japchea - sweet potato noodles and vegetables - and Ssam, for folding the meat. As well, 'Danmuji', 'Kimchi' and 'Sigeumchi', blanched spinache and a wonderful 'Baechu Donejang Guk' soup.

After reading about all these dished, you probably have a hard time believing that one can learn all these recipes in a single evening. Yet, we did it! We got to know a incredibly tasty and healthy cuisine with lots of vegetables and a limited calory intake.
